In this course students learn history of the time period 1750- present day. Topics of discussion are as follows: Enlightenment ideas, Industrialization, Imperialism, 20th century conflict, culture, interaction, diffusion, places and regions, human environmental interaction, movement (migration and immigration), markets, economy, systems of government, participation, thinking and organizing research, and communicating information.
Students will receive direct instruction, individual assignments, group projects, and research projects as instructional methods. Assessment tools are quizzes, daily note checking, chapter outlines, and tests consisting of multiple choice, matching, short answer, I.D.'s, and essay questions. All content and tests are strickly aligned with the Ohio Academic Content Standards for Social Studies. Technology is also blended into the classrooms using computer based research, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, internet searches, blogs and websites.
