RHHS families, We just want you to know we are with you in this! So many of you, as well as our staff, have been impacted by the recent ice storm. As more snow is expected to arrive and power outages continue throughout our community, we just want to make sure everyone knows our expectations are for you to stay safe and as warm as possible during this time, first and foremost. If, by chance, you are fortunate enough to have power and are able to login, just do your best to keep up academically. If you do not have power and are unable to, we do not want you to worry! We will work together on helping get you caught up during this grading period the best we can once we get through this and power is restored. At RHHS, this is a time to put our motto “love, serve, care” on display and help others if you are able to. We realize there are many needs right now. If there are people you know that are in need of some extra help and you are able to, please do so. If there is a pressing need that you need help with, feel free to reach out! Thank you and God Bless! Mr. Gue

Boys middle school basketball players need to be at the school at 3:45 tomorrow to get their uniforms and catch the bus, they can just wear something comfortable tomorrow, we asked them to wear black athletic/sweat pants if they had them, black socks, if they want to wear a shirt under their jersey it must be red (ohsaa rule), there was an OVC meeting today to finalize policies for now, each player will be permitted 2 tickets that are purchased at the gate, those 2 tickets will be checked beside the player's name on the door roster, the gym will be cleared between the 7th and 8th grade game, 7th grade games begin at 5:30 with 8th starting afterwards, generally around 6:45 on most nights, players are free to ride home with parents afterwards so long as they are properly signed out on the sign out sheet (legal responsibility), they must bring their own drinks and must wear masks except when on the floor, all spectators must wear masks as well, if you have any questions contact Coach Sark or Coach Lutz.

Rock Hill Middle School stakeholders, we thank you for your support in working with us during this perilous time. The pandemic has caused us to modify the way we deliver instruction, not only at the middle school, but district wide. It is our top priority to keep your children safe. We ask students to continue logging in daily to check assignments and to examine any updates or posts made by teachers. Students are asked to submit assignments in a manner stated by their instructors. If you have any questions, we encourage you to message or call. Teachers are available during normal school hours. Moreover, it is pertinent that students log on to examine and complete assignments daily so they can remain current with their academics and attendance. It is each student's responsibility to log on to a computer or electronic device so as to complete assignments or assessments and ask questions relevant to their academic needs. Teacher assignments are also posted on the middle school webpage for the community to view. I would like to follow up to Mr. Sam Gue's previous post. The middle school is in the process of getting report cards in the mail. We are also mailing school pictures and any other relevant documentation pertaining to grades. Packages with school pictures will be labeled with the words "Do not bend." If you haven't picked up report cards or pictures directly from the office, you should be receiving them soon. In summary, we truly have the best stakeholders in the State. Once again, thank you for giving us the opportunity to educate your children during these challenging times. If you need to call the school, our number is 740-532-7026. Be safe and God Bless.

Attention all Rock Hill High School students and families: All report cards for the first nine weeks grading period have been mailed home. If you haven’t received it yet, it should be arriving soon. Please contact the school office if you do not receive your report card. We realize we are in challenging times, but when adversity hits in any way, our response to that adversity is the one thing we can control. Keep that in mind as we continue virtual learning during this time period. You are ready to succeed! We prepared for this very situation at the beginning of the school year. Pay special attention to your teachers’ assignments on a daily basis. It is your responsibility to login daily, check for lessons, complete assignments and tests, and ask questions in ANY situation you are struggling with regarding school work. We are here for you! We are at the school everyday during normal school hours. This means you are able to reach any teacher you need to speak with by calling the main office at (740) 532-7012 or via email. You are also able to make appointments with our teachers to come to the school and ask questions or work with them to help you with any of your academic needs. If you do not have reliable internet service, please coordinate with our school secretary, Mrs. Lena Dawson, so we are able to provide paper packets for school work. If you choose to come to the school to get paper packets, you will also need to bring those back completed in a timely manner. You will need to do this on a weekly basis. Please coordinate a time with Mrs. Dawson when you are returning work so a new packet will be ready for you of new assignments. Our hope is to continue to provide the best education we possibly can given whatever circumstances we are faced with.

Calling in alone to request to be a remote learner does not register a student. Follow the steps listed on the Rock Hill Middle School webpage. Forms can be printed from the webpage or can be picked up at the middle school office. Registered remote learning students will be contacted by their teachers on August 31st.

Just a reminder to all Rock Hill High School students: If you have called in and requested the remote learning option, that does not mean you are registered. You must follow the directions on our high school webpage and a parent/guardian, along with the student, must bring the contract to our high school secretary, Mrs. Lena Dawson. Once you have completed those steps, you will be enrolled into our remote learning option. If you do not have a printer, Mrs. Dawson will have a copy of the contract available for you to sign. This must be done before this Thursday, August 27th.

We spoke of the lunch box ban yesterday at the office. I think it was left in the plan after we determined kids could bring book bags due to no lockers given. It was simply an oversight. I see no reason why lunch boxes can’t be brought to school. Hope that helps.

As you probably already received a call regarding postponement of high school and middle school sports, I just want to clarify that we did have a positive case among our student/athletes. We were unable to be in contact with the health department so I made the decision to suspend all sports at Rock Hill until further notice to be on the safe side. Anyone that knows me knows this is the last thing I want to do. Hopefully Monday we can get further guidance from our local health department. This suspension may not affect all teams after that consultation. Sorry for any inconvenience.

The Rock Hill High School Administration would like to share some important information and dates regarding the end of the school year for all students. Students will be scheduled according to class to clean out lockers and turn in items that belong to the school. Seniors will have different instructions than underclassmen, so please adhere to the guidelines below. When students are on our campus, we strongly recommend wearing facemasks and gloves. Given the circumstances, we would just like to take every precaution to keep everyone safe. Underclassmen will not be required to return their chromebooks at this time, due to the possibility of students needing them at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year. The following dates are key: Seniors – Wednesday, May 6th (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM) Juniors – Wednesday, May 13th (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM) Sophomores – Thursday, May 14th (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM) Freshmen – Friday, May 15th (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM) Pick Up/Drop Off Instructions and Checklist • Students will enter the front doors (no more than 5 in the building at one time). A staff member will be monitoring the students entering the doors. • Inside of front doors students will drop their completed work packets in boxes labeled by grade level. Seniors will drop off Chromebooks AND Chargers. • Students will report to their lockers to clean them out. Please place trash in trashcans in the hall. • Students will bring and place textbooks by each teacher’s doors. • If you need to turn in library books place them in front of the library. • If you need to pick up belongings from the Art Room, Band Room or Locker Room you can do it at this time. • Students will leave the building through doors near the Math Wing. • When seniors leave they will be able to pick up their cords for graduation, a gift purchased by the district, and FCA notebooks. We need all seniors who attend Collins Career Center to report to RHHS on May 6th, as well, between 7:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. • A student checklist will be available as a reminder of the things the students will need to finish before leaving. • If your assigned day does not work for you, please contact Mr. Gue at sgue@rockhill.org and he will do his best to help accommodate. • It is our goal to see every student within the school on his/her assigned date **All Items Remaining In Lockers Will Be Cleaned Out On Monday, May 18th** Sam Gue and Brian Kidd RHHS Administration

As you know, we’ve been faced with some difficult decisions, but we will always strive to make these decisions with student and community safety as our top priority, while taking necessary precautions based on guidance from our leaders. The Class of 2020 is special. It is near and dear to our hearts. We want to honor this Class in a way they deserve. The fact is, they deserve much more than we would ever be able to give them with all they have had to endure…all they have had to miss out on. I say all of that to inform you we are going to do the very best we can, given the circumstances, to honor our graduates with a ceremony we believe will be both memorable and safe. Before moving forward with our plans for graduation, I’d like for you to read the attached link from the Ohio Department of Education which explains a big part of our reasoning for the way we are proceeding (with both graduation and our recent decision regarding prom): http://education.ohio.gov/Topics/Student-Supports/Coronavirus/Graduation-and-Recognition-Ceremonies We have planned to hold a “Drive-Thru Graduation” for the Class of 2020, as ODE has advised not to postpone or delay major activities. Therefore, graduation will occur on the originally scheduled time and date which is Sunday, May 17th, at 2:00 P.M. Due to the fact that we won’t be having an actual ceremony where people can be gathered on this date, we will also be filming and preparing for a virtual graduation, where all families can hopefully be together and watch remotely. The virtual graduation is set to premiere on Saturday, May 23rd, at 6:00 P.M. The virtual graduation will be very similar to a traditional graduation, complete with ‘Pomp and Circumstance,’ the National Anthem, Invocation, Welcome, Valedictorian Speeches, Senior Video, Administrative Comments, a video of students receiving their diplomas at the drive-thru, as well as many more memories. Guidelines for Drive-Thru Graduation on May 17, 2020 -The Drive-Thru Graduation Ceremony will begin promptly at 2:00 P.M. (Entrance will be open at 1:15 P.M.) -In order to follow the guidelines set forth by our Governor with regard to the current pandemic, we ask that all members of each vehicle (with the exception of the senior getting out to accept his/her diploma) remain in the vehicle for the duration of the Drive-Thru Graduation Ceremony. -Each Senior graduating will be limited to one vehicle for the ceremony (family/friends will be in the vehicle with the Senior). -In order to accommodate all Seniors and keep the traffic flowing, there will be one entrance and one exit with cones setup outlining the path to the Senior accepting his/her diploma. The only entrance will be the last entrance to school grounds on County Road 26 (the entrance at the end of Rock Hill Middle School). Staff will be helping in different areas to answer questions and assist with maintaining a consistent flow of traffic. -When the Senior gets to the beginning of the long drive in front of Rock Hill High School, the student with his/her family will be asked to move forward when it is appropriate and will proceed to the front of the main entrance (office area). At this point, the vehicle will stop and only the graduating Senior will get out of the vehicle and accept his/her diploma from Rock Hill Local School Board President, Mr. Mark Harper. Mr. Ed White and Mr. Robert Stevens will be taking pictures to capture the event and will want to get a few pictures of the Senior at this time. They will also be announced and recognized according to their honorary title (Valedictorian/Honor Student/etc.) at this time. After pictures are taken, the Senior will move his/her tassel from the right side to the left, signifying he/she is now a Rock Hill High School Graduate. What an incredible honor!! He/She will then get back in the vehicle and follow the path to the exit. -Along with a diploma, each student will receive several copies of the graduation program inside his/her passport and a rose. -We think it could be fun to see vehicles decorated in an appropriate way in support of this amazing Class. -We realize this is not the ideal situation, but we have to act in accordance with the guidelines set forth before us and believe this will be an enjoyable way to honor our graduates! -Our hope is that if restrictions happen to lessen by mid-July, we would love nothing more than to host a huge celebration for our Seniors and their families. -Any Senior that has not sent his/her baby picture and Senior headshot to Mrs. Capper needs to do so as soon as possible or it will be left out of the virtual graduation! Her email is lcapper@rockhill.org if you have any questions or are having problems getting it to her. Please let her know so we can help you! -If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to email me anytime at sgue@rockhill.org. I miss you all and look forward to honoring you…and hopefully, celebrating more at a later time! Love. Serve. Care. Sam Gue, RHHS Principal

The Rock Hill Middle School Administration would like to share important information regarding the end of the school year. Firstly, students will be scheduled days by grade level from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm to clean out lockers, and turn in items that belong to the school. A system will be established where 3 kids at a time may enter the building, maintaining social distancing, and following the Center for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. We strongly encourage students to wear masks and gloves while on the school campus. This may sound extreme, but the RHMS administration number one priority is the safety of our students. Please allow for possible delays when bringing your child to pick up their belongings as we will be maintaining a strict 3 student at a time guideline, no parents or guardians will be permitted to enter the building with their child. May 13th – 8th-grade students May 14th – 7th-grade students May 15th – 6th-grade students All items in lockers must be out before May 18. In addition, students will not submit their Chromebooks to us this year. We believe this is necessary in case remote instruction should occur at the beginning of the next school year. It is important that students still follow the RHMS handbook and the acceptable use policies throughout the summer in regards to the usage of their Chromebook. Please follow Redmen Live, the Rock Hill Local School District website, and pre-recorded phone messages for updates on technology-based events like the RHMS NJHS induction, RHMS Awards Day, and the 8th Grade party. Thank you, please continue to take care of yourself, your family, and loved ones.
